		<description>Investors may have a better chance of footing the bill than taxpayers.  The Paulson plan was their shot--and the Bush administration&#039;s shot--at resolving the problem on their own terms, and it won&#039;t solve anything. They&#039;ve shown the extent of their willingness to compromise without compulsion.  The political climate will only grow worse for them, especially as they were eager participants in an essentially corrupt system of mortgage lending that has already &quot;mugged&quot; many borrowers.</description>
