Yves,

Im done posting and ranting about economic/financial retardation here, however, I wanted to add a final concluding thought that popped up in the form of a Doc Holiday RIP.

Sorry if Ive been disruptive or a pain with any OT content!! Im deleting all my blog connections and calling my efforts off at becoming educated about economics. One way I like to look at things these days, is to hope that situations or stories will have some conclusion, or some finality, so that I can say, I read the story and I get it, or I understand the conclusion of a law case, or whatever, but, what I really dislike these days, are incomplete stories, fragments of puzzles that keep you guessing, like a soap opera that drags on from episode to episode.

I often refer to entropy and the expansion of problems versus trying to simplify what we know and look for the stability of logic where there is a conclusion that allows us to go forward, versus being locked in an endless loop of chaotic abstraction that feeds off attention deficit confusion.

Thus, Im very upset by this SEC collusion in regard to re-creating accounting standards on-the-fly and toying with regulations that are now political manipulations.

Allowing for references by incorporation, and the promulgation of false and misleading information and thus, the inclusion of embedded mis-information, is criminal and to be specifically blunt, this is treason at the very highest levels of American government!

Its infuriating and stressful to watch this decay and to post story after story, blog after blog, as if there is some meaning in a public process of free speech.

These on going meaningless political acts from this administration/government are talked about on blogs by attention deficit freaks like me and countless others and qualified journalist and educated people like you (insert yves) but the resulting output of this free speech results in fragmented outdated links, canceled TV programs and newspapers and magazine stories -- information that blow in the wind at garbage dumps.

All-in-all, I'd say its nice to be able to vent on the net, but it obviously doesnt matter -- because our government is turning a zoo into a sewer. How can anyone relate to this corruption and continue to be buried by this crap day after day? How can The SEC, DOJ, DOL, EPA and every department in this government be so polluted by collusive corruption?

In my heart as God is my witness, I love America and feel nothing but despair and sorrow. I truly hope you have the ability, strength and mentality to keep doing a great job here! Thank you for what you do!!!

In closing, I wanted to point out from yesterday, a series of posts I made which were intended to be mocking/satirical innuendo's, where I used video clips and scripts from Austin Power's movies to make reference to the amount of money which has been destroyed in our economy over the last few years. It just seemed to fit, just like poking fun at how America is looking more like a Russian vodka-based society that hopes the masses will drink themselves into oblivion and thus not be involved in government actions.

Im sure no one sees humor in this decaying situation, but something just struck me about the time/money relationship from Dr. Evil, i.e, in the movie, The President says, "that amount of money doesnt even exist" ..... they all laugh out of control... but, that is a key reference to the reality of what is going on today, in an abstract and humoresque way.

We are in a time, where our current leaders are using future value as a mechanism to borrow against today, i.e, this problem of printing money and the easy liquidity we have seen the past several years, is a loan, like a 40 year loan.

Think in terms of The Fed taking out a mortgage with no down payment, no collateral and no means to pay the debt today. Thus perhaps they are re-organizing as if being bankrupt and extending terms to themselves to pay off future debt. It is crazy, but Dr. Evil is a great way to understand the economics of this day, because the money that is needed to fix this problem, doesnt exist today!

You would think the friggn value of the dollar would reflect that as we go forward!!

Peace baby, we need it!!

Re: What did Dr. Evil have in mind?
http://semanticcompositions.typepad.com/index/2006/03/what_did_dr_evi.html
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QM-PlRXNVE&feature=related
Dr. Evil: "Here's the plan. We get the warhead, and we hold the world ransom for.....One MILLION DOLLARS!!"
No.2: "Ahem...Don't you think we should maybe ask for *more* than a million dollars? A million dollars isn't exactly a lot of money these days. Virtucon alone makes over nine billion dollars a year!"
Dr. Evil: "Really?"
No.2: "Mm-hmm."
Dr. Evil: "Okay then. We hold the world ransom for.....One hundred..BILLION DOLLARS!!"

To further corroborate your point about the SEC's duplicity, the Wall Street Journal reported recently that the Commission is looking into money-market funds' valuation practices.

"Letters have been sent to several firms in recent weeks to gather details on short-term debt and other investments that have come under pressure amid the subprime-mortgage downturn. The SEC says it is seeking to better understand how fund advisers are responding to current conditions in the credit markets, and how funds have complied with Rule 2a-7, which is the investment regulation that guides money-market fund operations."

Why single out money-market funds but let securitizers off the hook?
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120053818212696557.html

Two points Yves.

First, this is a bit belated, because the SEC put out a press release on the same day Bush announced HopeNow (Dec 6 2007?). I was a bit upset at the time, but nobody seems to have picked it up then.

Second, you should explain WHY these vehicles are supposed to be "brain dead".

They're CHARITABLE trusts, aren't they? Like Granite at Northern Rock.

They are being abused, with official blessing*. And now the practical problems are showing up.

If you ever get the chance to put someone on the spot, ask them who is the LEGAL BENEFICIARY of the trust.

John
