NYC Meetup Next Wednesday 1/8 with Lambert

If you are in New York City, I hope you’ll join us next Wednesday, from 6:00 PM till 8:30 PM. Lmabert will be making a rare visit to Manhattan, so please come and meet him!

A couple of readers offered suggestions for venues. One is upstairs at Old Town Bar, on East 18th Street between Broadway and Park. The other is Saigon Market on University Place between East 11th and East 12th. Both are near the Union Square subway station. I’m inclined towards Old Town based on the pix. If any readers know these spots, please chime up in comments, otherwise I’ll choose and let you know by the end of the weekend.

See you there!

Old Town Bar has an upstairs section that is often not at all as packed as the downstairs area (which can get quite hoppin’ after office hours), and is more roomy for a larger group. It’s also reasonably priced for the area, and has a nice old-school and unpretentious feel, so it gets a thumbs up here.

Conways in Midtown, on East 43 Street right next to Grand Central off of Madison has a good downstairs room which can accomodate 60 people. We use it for a financial trade group that meets monthly called Quafafew. If you are interested, contact Ed Creel at Conways at 212.286.1873. Mention a member of Quafafew referred you.

I would love to stop by. Haven’t been to Old Town in years but it is a great location. I do hope that more people will respond….

Just a clarification: Is the Meet Up Tuesday Jan 7 or Wednesday Jan 8? At Corrente, lambert has the date for Tuesday,
Since we did Vietnamese the last time and I agree with Yves about the Old Town Bar based on the pictures that make it look inviting to conversation, I vote for Old Town. Besides, we already did French Fried Frog Legs. ;-)

Hi, it’s the 8th. Lambert is coming in the 7th and leaving the 9th, and it’s a long day of travel in, so we agreed on the 8th.

Maybe he is doing something separate with Corrente folks? I’ll get him to look at his notice on Corrente.
