Thanks to the fast and generous responses of over 335 members of the Naked Capitalism community, we’ve met our first target, an bigger for digital infrastructure and user improvements, and the second target, funding for travel and related site coverage, with gratifying speed. Like yesterday, we have the high-class problem that we’ve met our goals so rapidly that it occurred when Lambert is off the grid, so our thermometer needs to be changed to show that we are now on to a new target.
Not only are donations coming in at a healthy clip, but we’ve gotten a couple of gratifyingly large donations, and many of our established donors have also dug in deeper to give us more. We are really grateful for this vote of confidence in our work. So please click here to find out how to give by check, credit or debit card, or PayPal.
We are $870 towards our goal of $19,500 for our guest bloggers. As regular readers may know, over the years, we’ve been improving the caliber of writers who contribute to this site. We like to send writers who’ve contributed regularly like Lambert, Richard Smith, Dave Dayen, and Nathan Tankus, as well as occasional contributors like Mathew D. Rose.
Every donation help move us towards our goals. If you can’t afford to give, please take what you’re learning here and share it. If you are can only afford a little, we’d still appreciate your contribution. But if you can afford more, please give more. The truth costs money, but it is far cheaper than having someone buy the right to lie to you by paying for your media.
This year, because some of our past regulars have had other commitments this year (Andrew Dittmer, for instance, has been very busy) the load has fallen on fewer people than before. Lambert has done a backbreaking amount of work, between his considerable help in with a big load of tech oversight (we had to select a new WordPress person, always a time-consuming and nerve-wracking process), bailing me out way too often (I was quite sick for a stretch last winter, and then had periods when I was impossibly crunched at points due to the demands of more original reporting). And his Tip Jar has become a mainstay of the site, and I hope you’ll also see fit to thank him for that. So I hope you’ll continue to be magnanimous, since there is absolutely no way I could have kept the site going without their considerable help.
Please give them a really generous “thank you” for all their diligent and valuable efforts!
There are multiple ways to give. The first is here on the blog, the Tip Jar, which takes you to PayPal. There you can use a debit card, a credit card or a PayPal account (the charge will be in the name of Aurora Advisors).
You can also send a check (or multiple post dated checks, if you want to spread out payments) in the name of Aurora Advisors Incorporated to

Please also send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org with the headline “Check is in the mail” (and just the $ en route in the message) so we can count your contribution in the total number of donations.
