Closing Hours of the 2021 Fundraiser, About to Hit Our New $ and Donor Targets!

The Naked Capitalism community has spoken!. Your generous donations say you want more in-depth reporting, fast and insightful analysis of important events, and impact. You’ve provided tangible backing for your desire to have us demystify complex technical topics, call out corruption, shred propaganda, become more effective in our activism, provide a place for sanity checks, blowing off steam, and camaraderie, and in our small way, help promote the establishment of a more just society.

We set an initial target of 1100 donors for our fundraiser. You met that over the first weekend. We set a new goal of 1350. You broke that late last week. We set a new target of 1600, which we’ve increased for the close of this fundraiser to 1800. We are at 1591 donations. Can you be one of the donors that rises to this final challenge?

Help us make this the best fundraiser ever by giving in the home stretch at our Tip Jar!

And we are at $40,165, close to our target of $45,000 for original reporting!

Can you push us over the top? Ever little bit will help, whether it’s $5 or $50, or $5,000.

Join us and participate via our fundraiser page, where you can give by credit or debit card of via a PayPal account (the charge will be in the name of Aurora Advisors).

You can also send a check (we like checks!) in the name of Aurora Advisors Incorporated to

Aurora Advisors Incorporated
164 Peachtree Circle
Mountain Brook, AL 35213

Please also send an e-mail to yves@nakedcapitalism.com with the headline “Check is in the mail” (and just the $ en route in the message) to have your contribution included in our running tally.

We’ve gotten SO many messages that it will take me some time to read through them all and reply properly. I wanted to share a few. From sporble:

Thanks to everyone at NC for helping me find my way – and retain a tenuous hold on my sanity – in these ever-so-difficult times.

Somehow, my $100 donation seems much too small for all that you do. Maybe I’ll have to give more…
In any case, everyone: Please give whatever you can to support NC so it can continue to help us understand what’s really going on in the world.

And Devra and Mark D:

Thank you for all you and the team do to bring us the truth. We appreciate your humor, insights and tenacity. NC is how we start and end each day – you are worth every penny and then some!! Thank you.

From Will S:

It’s hard to believe I’ve been reading Naked Capitalism for nearly ten years. My father introduced me to the site in the wake of the GFC, and while it took a few years for me to make it a fixture of my daily routine, now I can’t imagine doing without it. It’s sad to say that a blog which presents critical analysis and attempts to discern the truth rather than confirming preconceived biases is a breath of fresh air, but it really is. It’s sad to say that NC is nigh-unique in exposing self-dealing and financial crimes among our elites, or in discussing the frauds that are carbon capture or cap-and-trade, but it is. I hoped to be able to donate more than the symbolic $27 this year, but I have the unenviable status of a so-called COVID “long-hauler” and haven’t yet returned to work full-time, so sadly my finances can’t manage any more; but I gladly trade a takeout dinner for the satisfaction of contributing. You, Lambert, Jerri-Lynn, and the moderator(s) have my undying gratitude for maintaining the site and what may be the only worthwhile comments section on the Internet, especially in the face of obvious drive-by trolls and bad-faith debaters.

And CoryP:

This is always a joyous week for me— I love to see how everyone pulls together and keeps this place alive. Thanks for everything!!

So, last chance. Be one of the final 100 to make this effort a smashing success.

If you can give a little, give a little. If you can give more, give more. If you can give a lot, give a lot. You are investing in being part of the solution. And thanks again for your support!

OMG, it reposted the 2020! Gah! I had written an entire new 2021 one and the old one relaunched!

Actually the post text was revised and updated. Reader quotes from this year, correct totals, some changes in language. But blew it on the headline!

Procrastinators of the world (or at least this part of it) are united. And grateful to NC — the writers, guest posters, and the most excellent commentariat — for keeping us well-informed!

Just donated…thanks Yves, Lambert, Jerri-Lynn, and moderators for all your hard work!
