Announcing Micro-Mini Fundraiser for Moderation Top-Up

Dear patient readers,

We normally try to stay away from year-end fundraising solicitations, since so many good causes make festive season and year end appeals. But as we explained, we lost our most seasoned moderator, and one who had been working pro-bono too. And even though the current comment level is understandably lighter than usual due to this holiday period, there are regularly more comments awaiting review that I would like, so the short-staffing is affecting comment liberation speed.

Fortunately, a former moderator who left to take a work opportunity has found he has more time free than he anticipated and has offered to return. But unlike Jules, he would need to be paid. And we already sent out bonuses to staff and writers and prepaid many many expenses, so all of our fundraiser monies have been spent or are already committed.

So we are seeking a very modest $5,000 to help reward this moderator through the next fundraiser.

Please help support our sparking comments section! Proceed to the Tip Jar, which tells you how to give by credit card, debit card, check, and PayPal (you can use the service Clover, which is a bit beta-ish, if you are allergic to PayPal). Chip in to meet this unexpected need! If you contribute by check, please send an e-mail to yves-at-nakedcapitalism-dot-com with “Check” in the headline and the donation amount so we can keep a running tally.

And thanks again for all your help! Best wishes for 2024!

I tried to contribute, but Paypal somehow seems to have shut me out of my account. I’ll have another go later.

In the meanwhile, a happy new year to all in the NC crew, all your hard work is much appreciated.

I’ll kick in some money when the local post office opens up again after their New Years break. Best wishes to Jules and Happy New Year to all at NC.

Done, or at least I hope so. No confirmation on my bank site as yet, so if necessary I’ll re-do it.
A Happy New Year to all.

Done and thank you for the opportunity. I felt really bad hearing about one of the moderators having to wade through so much bad stuff. I was glad to be asked.
Thanks to all who make this place possible. Please accept my sincere gratitude.

Such exceptional work the NC crew does. So sorry to hear about Jules. The NC commentariat is the best I’ve seen anywhere. Disappointing in a way to learn how much garbage needs to be filtered out. I’ll send a US postal money order today.

Gladly donated, with New Years best wishes from central British Columbia (latitude ~ 54 N), where I went for my first December 30th bike ride ever, and watched idjits in a couple of jet-boats cavorting on a drought-shrunken local river: El Nino + Anthropocene climate + (?) COVID-induced brain impairment. Upcoming wildfire season promises to be memorable. So NC’s virtual island of sanity will be even more precious!
