Holiday Schedule and a Sort of Comments Holiday

Dear patient readers,

From now, through and including January 1, we will be on holiday schedule. That means three posts a day and Water Cooler if and when it suits Lambert. And because news flow will be lower, the number of links in Links will probably be smaller too.

Normally, we also turn off comments to give our comments moderators a break. We will give them the time off, but we will leave comments on for Links and other posts where we feel like it.

However, because Yves and maybe Lambert will be moderating, comments that have been snagged by Skynet will be freed less quickly than usual. Certainly once a day. And we won’t be as accommodating with borderline cases, say a comment that makes some valid points but also has assertions that are unsubstantiated and a fast search shows are untrue or misrepresented. Normally we would let that through and Say Something, or let it pass so that the commentariat can straighten it out, but we need a break, and this sort of intervention is taxing, so it won’t be on offer.

Otherwise, this Grinch wishes you a happy holiday!

Suffering Succotash! That is one grumpy looking cat. Looks like we are rapidly running out of year with Christmas in only a few days. With this in mind, may I link to an Aldi ad that has been making the rounds the past coupla weeks? Santa almost came unstuck-

I hope that all have a great break and an outstanding Christmas.

Thank you all for all your wonderful work, both in finding and creating the content, and keeping things sane below the line.

        Thank you, Larry.

If you are in England, it would be great to meet. I return in a month.

Yes, thanks to all – creators and commenters.
Judging by the chaos levels in political news — plus market gyrations, 2019 ought to be quite the struggle between Old Finance, Tax Havenry, and others looking for a more equitable, sustainable world.

Things are so bizarro that even outrageous terms like ‘President Pelosi’, which once seemed unthinkable, now still seem to be extremely unlikely, but ‘thinkable’. Whoda thunk?

It’s probably not a good time to be Facebook, and it will be interesting to see what happens in terms of unpacking monopolies in 2019. Buckling my seat belt already…

And Happy Holidays to you, too – to all that make this site possible.

Make sure you get some rest and recreation.

Merry merry and Happy happy! Thank you for creating an oasis of sanity in an otherwise completely unhinged world.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from me also to the team and the commentariat.
Three posts a day still sounds too much, so please don’t overdo the moderating. We want you fit for 2019!

Wishing you all the best of the new year. It has been solstice so we have 6 seconds more light today than yesterday. You all at NC need a good break. Take your time, we are able to get by in the mean time. As an aside, the more i read the less time i spend in the wood shop. So it’s all good.

Wishing everybody a merry Christmas, supposed to wake up tomorrow with a hallow of white a few thousand feet above us after an overnight storm passes through…

Thanks to all that make NC happen~

Thanks for all your effort, and may the truth be with us all.
