Seeking Feedback on Possible Meetups: DC on Thursday March 28, Milwaukee on Wednesday May 1?

Dear readers,

I’m behind on meetups (due among other things to having been felled by that horrible winter bug) and wanted to take some steps to redress that.

We have a meetup scheduled by Katy for Minneapolis on Thursday May 2, location still in the process of being sorted out.

Would readers also be up for meetups on:

A week from Thursday, March 28, in DC? I’d probably stay someplace not in the pricey heart of DC, like Old Town or near the airport, but I look to readers for venue ideas. We did an Elephant & Castle once, which was a little awkward (the noise level was OK but the seating was restaurant seating so I had to be sure to hop tables) and a J.W. Marriott where an enterprising reader arrived early and took over a back section of their large bar area.

Readers have also asked about a meetup in Milwaukee, and I was thinking of stopping on the way to Minneapolis, so on Wednesday May 1.

Let me know how that sounds. For both cities, please provide venue ideas if you are game! For DC, we normally get 25 to 30. For Milwaukee, I have no idea but I’d guess anywhere from 8 to 20.

Thanks!

The Milwaukee Public Market, kind of a high end food court, but closes early at 8pm. A wine bar stays open until 9.
I went to the Camp Bar in the Third Ward for a holiday partly in December. It has a perfect small side room – but it’s not free. We maybe able to sort of hihack it unannounced, however. This location does not serve food.
I’m not a MKE native, and in fact live in Madison now, so I’m not plugged in here. I’ll ask around, though.

Also the Milwaukee Brewing Company on 9th Street. Large gastropub next to the basketball arena.

If the airport is National, aka Reagan, the Highline is a bar on Crystal Drive in Crystal City that is a good informal meeting place for March 28. Less than 10 minutes walk from the Metro.

That depends on the time – with rush hour traffic, and the Nats’ home opener on that day (which should end around 4:30 or so), there could be traffic getting there.

In DC, Barrel near Capitol Hill, Dirty Habit or Iron Horse near Chinatown, or Sauf Haus for a beer hall near Dupont

Their Sterling Va, now closed, had great fare. They have private rooms for groups of 20 or more.

For Milwaukee, I don’t know about free/private rooms, but the Hyatt Regency has a very roomy lobby/bar area … also some noisy bar/grills nearby, Milwaukee Brat House comes to mind
