Fundraiser SOS! We Are REALLY Behind!

We are into the second week of our fundraiser. We are well behind where we need to be to keep giving your the depth and range of content you expect for 2026. We need more of you, particularly those who have not managed to find the time to contribute yet, to go to our donation page and contribute generously.

Our average donation level is on par with last year. And we’ve gotten many more, and more intensely positive notes from readers about our work and particularly our new Coffee Break/Sunday movie writers. So that suggests that we’ve been continuing to exceed your expectations.

We had anticipated we’d be in a much better position now, particularly since we have hoped those of you who had been supporting the old Water Cooler, which was funded independently from Naked Capitalism though Lambert’s PayPal links, would appreciate our new Coffee Break feature and would shift those monies into the regular Naked Capitalism contributions. While that has happened to a degree with monthly subscriptions (thanks SO MUCH to those who have done so!), that does not seem to have happened as much with respect to this fundraiser, which is essential to running the site for the upcoming year.

We want to keep providing the same wide ranging, fast-turnaround, rigorous, incisive and often witty coverage in 2026! We don’t want to be forced to cut back. But we need more of you to chip in, and even better yet, in a major way! Please go to the Tip Jar straight away and give bigly.

Our readers of modest means have told us how important the site is to them. We are truly humbled by notes like these. From Lena:

A close friend introduced me to Naked Capitalism in 2008. He died a couple of years ago and I still think of him every time I come here. I read NC for many years before I finally got the courage to make a few comments myself. I never thought I was intelligent enough to be a NC commenter but a homeless crisis (mine) and a series of posts on homelessness made me think I might have personal insight to contribute to the discussion.

When I did begin to comment, people were so kind. I will never forget their words of support. Yves, whom I have always admired, was extremely nice to me – a low income Ohio River Valley woman who has no background whatsoever in economics or finance. Then, after I finally found a place to live, cancer upended my life again. People here have been supportive about that, too. NC is a caring community.

I have, of course, learned an incredible amount from NC posts and comments about a wide range of domestic and international issues. But it is the kindness I’ve experienced at NC that I will remember best. I’m very sorry I don’t have money to donate at this time. I have only my thanks to give you all.

And Stone L:

My check in the amount of $40 is in the mail. I don’t have a great deal of money, but you site is stellar and I appreciate what you do.

And Judith K:

I read the post about emailing if a person sent a paper check.
I sent along a small 5.00 check, a few days back. To the postal address as stated. I give according to my means, thank you so much.

Please support our efforts. Give whatever you can, whether it’s $5, $50, or $5,000, via our Tip Jar. Even a small donation helps us meet our fundraising goals. But particularly if you are flush, we hope you’ll include us in your good fortune, not just on our behalf but also for members of the community who have told us they want to help out but are budget-crunched right now.

Invest in a better debate, a better society, and a better culture. Promote debate and critical thinking. Reward independence. Put your anger to good use. Enjoy your daily dose of cute animals. Please visit Naked Capitalism and click on our Tip Jar to help keep this vital resource in fighting trim.

Got some dosh coming my way, depending on how quickly lawyers pull their fingers out. Some of it has “NC” written on it.

I was thinking the other day how much I appreciated NC. I think it’s the combination of authority and daring. And Yves dealing to idiots. (I normally keep a low profile for that reason.)

    Hi,

I have been reading Naked Capitalism for years now, and a donation is long overdue!
I am in the Netherlands, and not a Paypal/Wise user. I can directly transfer money to the US, but that requires an accountnumber, and a Fedwire (FW), Routing number or ABA code. I hope you can provide that information!

    Thanks
    Erik Jan

Thanks so much for your readership and your speedy response. I just sent what I think you need. If that does not suffice, please ping me and I can call my bank to get more information. Thanks again!

    Sent via PayPal.

I’m late, because of some curlicues with Italian taxes. Considering that my prescriptions cost me 2 euro a month (yes, about 2 euro a month, not a typo, and also something that USanians deserve, if they would only push for change), I’m not complaining.

Many thanks to all involved at Naked Capitalism, from the writers on stage to the backstage producers and moderators.

Chipped in as well a bit earlier today.
Not much though, but I guess every penny counts now more than ever.

Keep up the excellent work and thank you for providing this critical space as a haven from all the madness and stupidity of this world.

    Godspeed!

I have been reading Naked capitalism since about the time of the great meltdown in 2008. For too long I did not read the comments until my son, who had put me on to the site in the first place, said I was missing half the fun and value. What is the morning without Naked Capitalism and coffee? I no longer know. I made my usual donation. I can afford more. I shall make an additional contribution.

just chipped in a neat fifty via paypal.

my apologies it is not much more as NC is and has been for some years now my main go-to website for accurate information and civil and well educated commentary.

I’d kick myself how much money I wasted 10-20 years ago on subscription to FT. Cancelling that subscription was like a large intake of fresh air and a big gulp of mountain water. Yves, I beg for forgiveness :)

BTW I still have an occasional look through FT’s comments and man, have they deteriorated. I mean, I cannot remember a single intelligent comment i read there in the last six or twelve months. For those who enjoy mental pain (like me), you can get into comments via the “archived” FT links that are occasionaly posted here.

Wish I could, NC certainly deserves it. Unfortunately, my disposable income is in negative territory, for reasons NC always writes about. Good luck, fellas.

Can’t really express what this community means to me (though I will try later when I have some more time to post). But I can express that I’m am ashamed I haven’t contributed yet this year. Will do asap!

I just donated $100.00 and also signed up as a monthly subscriber for $15.00 a month. I was putting off the donation because I haven’t worked in 3 months but I have been going on interviews and did get 2 offers which I declined. Hopefully I will have a job sooner than later because I really like to work! If you rely on Naked Capitalism for your news everyday as I do (since 2008), please donate.

My first mite went in. With luck I’ll be able scrape out another one. Keep the faith, NC, you do the good work.
