Kudos! Hit Fourth Fundraiser Target, On to the Fifth: Our Esteemed Writers

Thanks to the generosity of over 880 members of the Naked Capitalism community, we’ve met our first hurdle, our critical IT support and defenses, the second supporting the comments section, the third, continuing our exciting Coffee Break feature, and the fourth, funding for our expanded Links section.

Your responses to our generous benefactors’ Double Your Donations have produced a hefty upsurges. Even so, our overall totals are behind where we’d like to be, even with the average donation amount on par with last year. Can regulars who have not contributed yet dig deep to help us meet our goals and keep this site humming? Please proceed directly to the Tip Jar> to make your vital contribution!

We are now already at $2,045 towards our next goal $39,000, of big monetary thank yous for our guest writers, which includes our new, popular Coffee Break crew.

As long-standing readers know, we work on the old Wall Street partnership model: a thin level of assured pay (from monthly subscriptions and for the Coffee Break writers, fundraiser donations). They also get then bonuses that reflect, on the generous side, their and the site’s performance that year.

Over the years, we’ve been improving the caliber of writers who contribute to Naked Capitalism. We like to send our mainstays, Conor, Nick, and KLG, and now also Haig, Nat, Curro, and semper loquitur a significant honorarium out of the fundraiser

They’ve each stepped up in a very big way to shift their coverage, both in focus and level of output, to match the stresses of late-stage capitalism, with Trump pouring on the fires of the many forces disrputing the environment, geopolitics, finance and the economy, and domestic affairs.

Where would you be without Conor keeping his eve on emerging global hot-spots (many the result of US meddling), taking down the Abundance con, and chronicling how the wars against the homeless are really wars against workers? Or Nick on Latin America, from the Milei clown show to being early on US escalation against Mexico and Venezuela, to warning of the war against cash and promotion of crypto for the masses as vehicles for surveillance and social control? KLG is now providing much welcomed, increased coverage on dubious practices in medical and biosciences research (particularly but not limited to RFK Jr.’s), the war against science, Covid coverage, and social commentary.

Haig watches a wide range of developments in the military sphere via his Armed Madhouse, both hot topics like drone warfare and the likely future of Iran’s nuclear program, as well as important background, like the long-standing uses of bribery and propaganda injected into entertainment. Nat (along with Nick and Conor) has covered the tech billionaire agenda for the US, including the messaging and surveillance agendas of Larry Ellison, Peter Thiel, and Alex Karp, shutdown dynamics, and how Gaza is fracturing traditional political alliances. Curro gave us a first hand account from BRICS 2025 and assessments of what happens to the EU as its social compact crumbles, and how Latin America gives a preview of Trump plans for a new world order. semper loquitur gives a much needed enrichment/mental health break feature with his wide-ranging Sunday movie feature

Even though we pay our contributors for helping fill this site’s regular schedule at an adequate level, writing isn’t a very well remunerated line of work. Our esteemed writers regularly function at an extremely high level, turning out in-depth analysis quickly. The fact that they can do so is a result of their considerable experience and expertise.

We’d also like to send monetary “thanks yous” to Thomas Neuburger and other writers whose work we post here.

We thought we’d share some supportive reader messages. From Adrien:

Bonjour Yves,

Done! If we don’t contribute to NC today when in the Hell would we contribute to it?! I am so grateful for NC and your team for keeping up your amazing work day in and day out.

We can’t despair. We can’t give in. We have to keep motoring through. That’s how we went through every obstacle in our lives so far so we know how to do it. It is just a lot bigger this time.

Working every day to make our country better, our people better informed, more in control of their lives and emotions is a life well spent. And that’s what NC stands for and it is a marvelous public service that I am very honored to be able to support. Long live NC!

Wishing you and your team a great weekend.

And Mark S:

Naked Capitalism is the first reading I do every morning with the first cup of coffee. I can’t remember how I first learned about your sight but I have been addicted since before the crash. NC is, in my opinion, the single best source of info available at any price. The check is for $500.

And Tim S:

Thanks so much for the great coverage, especially with all the changes that have happened over the past year. Lambert was fantastic and I miss his wit, wisdom, and insight but the new crew is doing a really good job with a much wider range of content.

And Dan K:

blockquote>Coffee break is now my almost daily read.

Good work.

And Rick C:

I’ve upped my contribution this year even though my retirement income hasn’t
changed because this site is needed even more than it was in 2008/2009.

Thanks for all your good work, it is appreciated.

So we hope you’ll acknowledge our writers’ skills and dedication with a big, generous thank you at the Tip Jar. They are our mainstays and deserve a lavish thank you!
