    ‘Secretary Marco Rubio
    Department of State
    @SecRubio
    The International Criminal Court seeks to become the unaccountable arbiter of a new global law — empowered to prosecute and arrest our citizens at will and existentially threaten American sovereignty.
    We will teach the ICC the full meaning of American resolve.’

    Rubio is just grandstanding here. About a quarter of a century ago Bush passed the American Service-Members’ Protection Act (ASPA), known as the Hague Invasion. So if an American or that of an allied nation (cough*Israel*cough) gets imprisoned for war crimes, the US military is already authorized to go in and free them and Rubio knows it-

      Will members of the IDF now be classified as US service members under that Act? Or, will US service members be classified as IDF and so be fair game for the ICC?
      Fun thought, Russia and China supply “officers” to enforce ICC warrants, worldwide.
      Stay safe.

        They already thought about that in that Act and listed a bunch of countries who also were protected, but actually, it was only Israel that they were talking about-

        ‘The subsection (b) specifies this authority shall extend to “covered United States persons” (members of the U.S. Armed Forces, elected or appointed officials of the U.S. Government, and other persons employed by, or working on behalf of, the U.S. Government) and “covered allied persons” (military personnel, elected or appointed officials, and other persons employed by, or working on behalf of, the government of a NATO member country or a major non-NATO ally, including Australia, Egypt, Israel, Japan, Argentina, South Korea, and New Zealand).’
