NYC Meetup This PM With Lambert (and Michael Hudson)!

Posted on by

Hope you can join Lambert and me for some lively conversation and a drink if you are so inclined. We’ve found from past meetups that readers enjoy the opportunity to mix with other members of the NC community. Michael Hudson has said he’ll be there on the early side, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. Craazyman often drops by too.

Details:

5:00 PM through 8:30 PM
The Grey Mare
61 Second Avenue (between 3rd and 4th Streets)
New York, NY 10003

We have reserved the back room, so please have the host send you in our direction.

See you soon!

Alas, alas. Just weeks too late. Was in NYC back in March, for the snow. Now in Singapore (with a copy of Professor Hudson’s Killing The Host, no less) for the rain.

Raise a glass for your supporters who live in the ulu (uu-lou: Malay for the rural countryside or a not-with-it place.)

Got some last minute work, so I will be jealous from afar yet again.

    Have a wonderful time!

i will be there in spirit.
perhaps some of the attendees will be so kind as to report their impressions of this important meeting of minds… and/or personalities… or whatever…
… was the conversation over one’s head?
    disappointingly bland chitchat?
    formidably witty?
    slurred?
    vulgar and hilarious?
was some kind of reality-based esprit de corps in evidence?
are there any hot ones? (besides yves of course)
    i’ll stop there.

So close, yet so far away (sheds a tear). Somebody have a beer for me. I like Wellington SPA, but you probably don’t have that there, so sub any good IPA, and connect up with everyone there since personal connections are the only thing that can *possibly* save us. IMHO.

Oh, and since Yves is gettin’ a national profile, watch out for plants. Well of course, I mean triffids.

Am I the only one begging for NC to come out to beautiful Southern California…specifically Orange County so I don’t have far to drive :)

The fnords are especially plentiful tonight. Wish I were there with you. Do you ever venture as far afield as Providence?

What a wonderful community! Congrats to Yves and Lambert and all those who helped build it and are part of it.
    Thank you!

Well, it was a hoot and a half. We totally filled the place, I had ti raid the bar for stools for TMC and I and I later repeated it for a couple of others who came later (us? We were 15 minutes early but spent 45 finding parking).

Yves is a gracious host and really works at making sure that she talks with everybody. Lambert was late but he did fly in earlier in the day and was considerably jet lagged.

All the readers were very intelligent and polite. Most of them are too intimidated to comment much, because of my absolutely top notch and unshakeable self confidence that is not my excuse- I’m just too damn busy keeping fresh content on my sites (for those whose napkins are a little too beer stained to be legible they are The Stars Hollow Gazette and Docudharma).

It was loud so you had to talk in shouty voice to be heard. The Mussels appetizer ($16) is quite good and plenty for a meal, the Brussels Sprouts ($8 and I like irony and Brussels Sprouts) much less so.

Anyway I do comment, which seems to be the number one question people ask, but it is usually stupid and silly stuff like this.

    No.
    No.
    Yes.
Not where I was sitting (and $5 for 12 oz in NYC- buy a six pack at a bodega and get buzzed at home)
That too (or maybe it was just me)
    Yes
and Yes (depends on your taste, none of the ladies were less than beautiful and enchanting, some of the guys looked like me ,I’m 120+ years old you know, but others were kind of attractive I think, though I’m a poor judge of such things).
