Readers have responded generously to our final appeal, to meet our last fundraiser goal of $45,000 for more original and to surpass our new donor target of 1800 contributors.
Since our last update, only four hours ago, you’ve blasted through our donor target. We are now at 1814 donors, 14 over our goals! This is very exciting for all of us, since it confirms how much the Naked Capitalism community values this work and wants this site to get even better.
But we are still a little short on the dollar side. We are at $42,965, just $2,035. Will you be one of the ones to put us over the top by going to our Tip Jar?
We have a bit more than eight hours left. Our 2020 fundraiser closes at midnight Pacific time. Can you help us keep punching above our weight? Whatever you can give, $5, $50, or $5,000 all helps get us to these final goals and give you more original reporting!
Readers are chiming in.
I can say with absolute certainty that this is the only web site I have followed for 14 years. I can also say with the same certainty that this is why:
We’ve always viewed this site as in the business of promoting critical thinking.
This site is always, always challenging. Everything. Myself included, and I give you all, and this commentariat, my sincere thanks for it. I look back at some of my comments and views and say to myself, self, what were you thinking. But, ah, that is the point isn’t it. I was thinking. Trying to make sense of this crazy world we live in. I see in my kids, who are now young adults, that same sense of not accepting things at face value, looking for multiple viewpoints and realizing that most things worth doing are not easy to do, in fact they are usually very difficult.
It’s a wonderful gift you have provided here and well worth a contribution. If you are reading this and still on the fence, push that button!
Other people have put it in better words than I can, but I just want to give a heartfelt thank you to Yves, Lamberth, Jerri-Lynn, Jules and others for the hard work that it takes to maintain and improve the fantastic ‘thing’ that is NC:
It is a think tank, it is a news curator, it is a critical thinking bootcamp, it is a community, it is a horticulture academy, and it is a place of hope (and cat pictures). All of the highest quality available online.
My $27 is in the ‘mail’, unfortunately cannot do more right now but certainly in the future.
Naked Capitalism is worth so much more to me than, say, Hulu, Netflix, or Amazon. I was thinking to myself how much more I have put in the pockets of those websites than this one. I just had to clear that up, and make sure I pay at least as much for what I get here.
And it’s still a much, much better deal. Much.
Only a few hours remain in the Naked Capitalism fundraiser. Support critical thinking, merciless evisceration of lame punditry, deep diving into turbid financial waters, and cute animal pictures.
Every dollar you give now goes to support more original reporting. And even though we’re delighted to have raised over $40,000, consider how modest that is compared to newsroom budgets, let alone that of the think tanks whose output we regularly take down. Make a high-leverage investment in unpacking the propaganda and exposing the distortions that help support looting and policies that serve the rich at expense of the rest of us.
Be one of the last to push our fundraiser over the top. Let’s see if we can get to $45,000 and provide even more funding for original reporting before the close of this effort, midnight PDT. Every donation helps get us towards our goals and make this site even better.
There are multiple ways to give. The first is the fundraiser page, where you can use a debit card, a credit card or a PayPal account (the charge will be in the name of Aurora Advisors).
You can also send a check (or multiple post-dated checks) in the name of Aurora Advisors Incorporated to
Aurora Advisors Incorporated
164 Peachtree Circle
Mountain Brook, AL 35213
Please also send an e-mail to email@example.com with the headline “Check is in the mail” (and just the $ en route in the message) to have your contribution included in the total number of donations.
Again, I’m overwhelmed by this response from readers. Lambert and I want to give a big thanks to all of you who have donated already. If you can give a little, $5, $10, $50 or $5,000, it all has an impact. You are investing in creating a different debate, a different vision, and a different, more just society.
