Procrastinators of the World, Unite! Last Day, Last Chance for Our Fundraiser!

Thanks to the generosity of many loyal readers, we’re within striking distance of our targets. We’re at 1754 donors, closing in on our new goal of 1800. And at $36,610, we are also nearing our final fundraiser target of $45,000 for original reporting.

Be one of the people that makes 2020 the first year that the fundraiser had surpassed both its financial and donor goals! Remember, every dollar (or pound or Euro or Australian or New Zealand dollar) you give now goes to original reporting. The fundraiser ends tomorrow night at midnight PDT.

And if you need a reminder of the sort of unique coverage your funding makes possible, Lambert is DJing the Vice Presidential debate open thread on Wednesday, so ready your drinking games and fitting YouTube clips.

Will you help make this fundraiser an even bigger success?

Some of you who planned to give may have been busy with family, travel, work demands. And some like deadlines! So please take a couple of minutes to visit our fundraiser page to chip in for another year of razor-sharp analysis, one-stop news recaps twice a day, lively and insightful discussions, occasional snark and your daily dose of cute animal pictures.

Give now, and give generously through our fundraiser page. Remember, if you help us beat our goals, that means we can do even more on your behalf!

We’ve deeply appreciated not only the many donations we’ve gotten, but also the kind notes from readers. As Lyle wrote,

Just made my donation! A few years overdue and with many thanks.

NC started literally months after I graduated college and by some miracle, back when blogs were still a thing, I found it and have read daily ever since. Thanks for almost 15 years of balancing out my econ-major introduction to neoliberal groupthink. Maybe I do still work in real estate, but never pass up an opportunity to explain how “taxes don’t fund that” or, on a bad day pondering, “why are we even doing this?”

It’s obvious and laudable how hard you all work and the standard to which you hold yourselves. Truly hope everyone can muster the energy to keep it up for many more years!

From madarka

Well, I donated today. I’m a very occasional commenter and long time lurker (I think, 12yrs?). Thank you Yves, Lambert, and the rest of the team. NC has been a truly priceless resource, a fountain of information, and an excellent teacher. The morning always begins with your Links, the afternoon coffee accompanies Water Cooler. I hope to continue lurking for many years to come.

And Thom R:

I’ve just sent $100 via paypal, in addition to my regular monthly subscription payment. I’m happy to take advantage of Harry Shearer’s generosity, and to help NC latch on to some of that sweet Nicecorp cash.

Back when I was a struggling artist and was conflicted about a big sale to a defense industry executive, the gallery director pulled me into her office/closet and explained “Look, it’s ALL dirty money. Our job is to try to launder it. Pay attention to what you spend it on and you’ll be doing society a favor”.

That was my introduction to thinking about economics, and though I’m still puzzled every day I thank you and your colleagues and the uniquely readable comments from the peanut gallery for leading the battle to quell my puzzlement.

These are high expectations for all of us at Naked Capitalism, and we will devote ourselves to living up to them.

We’re coming up on the last chance for the 2020 fundraiser. You can give through our fundraiser page, where you can use a credit or debit card or a PayPal account (the charge will be in the name of Aurora Advisors).

You can also send a check (or multiple post-dated checks) in the name of Aurora Advisors Incorporated to

Aurora Advisors Incorporated
164 Peachtree Circle
Mountain Brook, AL 35213

Please also send an e-mail to yves@nakedcapitalism.com with the headline “Check is in the mail” (and just the $ en route in the message) to have your contribution included in the total number of donations.

Give now to Naked Capitalism. Whatever you can provide, whether $5 or $50 or $5,000, it helps us all keep this community vibrant. This isn’t just a donation. You making a statement that you want a different debate, a different society, and a different culture. It’s time to join us as we make sure this site can do an even better job of marshaling our energies to take on the lies that prop up a diseased power structure and promote a more just social order.

Other people have put it in better words than I can, but I just want to give a heartfelt thank you to Yves, Lamberth, Jerri-Lynn, Jules and others for the hard work that it takes to maintain and improve the fantastic ‘thing’ that is NC:
It is a think tank, it is a news curator, it is a critical thinking bootcamp, it is a community, it is a horticulture academy, and it is a place of hope (and cat pictures). All of the highest quality available online.

My $27 is in the ‘mail’, unfortunately cannot do more right now but certainly in the future.

My physical check will be mailed out today. Thank you for bringing me the world!

Does my contribution include Water Cooler, or do I need to make that donation separately?

    1. Carla

I believe the Water Cooler requires separate support. There is a dedicated tip jar at Water Cooler for that purpose.

This campaign is only for NC. The Water Cooler has its own fundraiser. Keep watching this site — it will be announced in time.

    Okay! :-) Donation complete!

I’m a long time lurker and I’m stingy with my cash. (And to be fair I am currently living in a garage! Long story, not as destitute as it sounds though.)

I’ve been following coverage on Naked Capitalism since early to mid 2007. I can’t remember how I stumbled to here but it has been a mainstay ever since. I owe this blog more than I have paid, I’ll endeavor to donate more in the future.

I have yet to find a single other blog that comes close to the quality I find here.

Thanks for the reminder, Yves. Procrastinating is totally my thing so I was drawn by the headline. Donation now done

My annual 100 dollar donation sent. I haven’t made any comments since back in March or April or whenever it was and was actually thinking of skipping the donation this year. But – even though I haven’t commented, I still check NC every day, like I have since I discovered this site ten, twelve years ago (or is it longer?) and would feel just totally shitty about myself if i didn’t kick in again this year – to support the best blog of it’s kind on the Net. And would find it immoral to comment here without donating to it. But that’s just me.

Hey, I was finally able to PayPal to take my card. Once again, thanks for all you do.
