We will be having a New York City meetup on January 16. Exact time and venue will be announced in the next few days, but we’ll start in the shortly-after-work time frame. A reader recommended a Lower East Side pub, which I’m checking into, which means we’ll be more hip than usual (well not really, the hour of our gathering would be considered geriatric by neighborhood standards).

curious…is this the “meetup groups” website (which takes social networking backwards by insisting on meeting in the bricks and mortar world) “meetup.com” or are u using the term “meetup” in the english language sense?
I have no idea what you are talking about. We have had meetups for at least four years in NYC.

Last time was a good place, near Union Square.
Lower East Side bars tend to be very loud and difficult to mix in, esp. when it’s too cold to go outside.
The one in question has a large back room which I am seeing if I can book.
Wish I was there. Putting faces to names would be very nice.
If you ever make it to the Left Coast, I strongly recommend Corvallis or Eugene.
